Developer Bungie has goofed, and it won’t fix it this week.
Every Friday in Bungie’s sci-fi shooter Destiny, a merchant named Xur appears in its central tower. This is a big deal for Destiny diehards, because he always brings an exotic weapon with him. Well, except for this week. When Xur popped up in the tower at 2 a.m. Pacific time this morning, as he always does, he did not bring one of the weapons that he’s known for peddling.
Bungie quickly responded to player complaints and confirmed that this was an unintended error:
Well, then. Xur appears to be non-compliant this morning. @BungieHelp is having a chat with him and will provide status updates.

But even after giving Xur a stern talking to, it looks like you just won’t have an option to pick up an exotic weapon from him this weekend.
Bungie explained it in the following tweet:
We've determined we can't safely alter Xur at this time. He'll be back next week with a full inventory, including an Exotic weapon.

So Xur is a bust for many this weekend. You’ll just have to wait until next Friday if you were hoping to spend some spacebucks on one of his weapons.
