Gamers are helping with earthquake relief efforts in Nepal.
Destiny fans have raised over $400,000 in just one week by buying charity T-shirts featuring characters from the popular sci-fi multiplayer shooter. Developer Bungie created the $25 charity shirts to raise funds to help in Nepal after the devastating earthquake that’s affected millions of people — and it’s adding a contribution of its own. The earthquake has destroyed an estimated 70,000 homes, and as many as 10,000 people have lost their lives. The charity drive is yet another example of gamers helping out with good causes.
The T-shirts are still on sale at Bungie’s online store, and between now and May 13, Bungie will add an extra $15 contribution to each sale, up to a value of $50,000.
The money raised from the T-shirt sales is going to the Direct Relief charity — one of many organizations helping with the massive relief and rebuilding efforts now taking place in Nepal.
